Your First Appointment?

Your appointment with Dr Moriarty will run for 50 minutes. Ideally it is best to have the first few appointments one to two weeks apart and after that we can discuss what works best for you.

Once you’ve made contact with Dr Moriarty and scheduled your first appointment, you will receive an email with important information regarding your appointment, including fees, confidentiality and the privacy and cancellation policies. Psychological therapy is completely confidential, with certain exceptions that will be explained to you in the information emailed. You will also be emailed several electronic forms regarding release of information (usually to your GP), and your details (name, emergency contact, DOB etc).

To assist Dr Moriarty in getting to know you, your first session is an opportunity for you to explain why you are seeking psychological treatment. Dr Moriarty will ask questions regarding your current situation and your background, including family, relationships and significant experiences. This assists in deciding the best approach to meeting your goals, and the contributing factors.

Cancellations

You will always be provided with a courtesy SMS 48 hours prior to your appointment.  Dr Moriarty has a 24 hr cancellation policy. If you are unable to attend an appointment please provide a minimum of 24hrs.  If you do not confirm your appointment, fail to attend, or cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full fee for this session. You are unable to claim a rebate through Medicare or private health insurance for cancelled or unattended appointments.
